Abhishek Bachchan Now Owns A Pro Kabaddi Team

Abhishek 05[tps_footer]If not a cricket team, Abhishek Bachchan is now a proud owner of a Kabbaddi Team.

The Pro Kabaddi League has created a lot of interest amongst the sports enthusiasts and Abhishek Bachchan has finally acquired the team from Jaipur

“It is a matter of huge pride. It is a sport where the amount of skill required is immense. Having played sports at school level and being a sports enthusiast, it’s very exciting for me to be able to be part of this endeavour,” stated a very happy and content Abhishek Bachchan.

Jaipur is one of the eight city based teams involved in this Pro Kabaddi League. The owner of the Bangalore franchise will be decided in a few days. The other teams are being owned by Ronnie Screwvala (Mumbai), Kishore Biyani (Kolkata), Uday Kotak (Pune), Rana Kapoor (Delhi), Core Green Group (Vizag) and Kalapathi Investments (Chennai).

“We are all cricket lovers. Even I love cricket but it’s a British sport. This is an opportunity, a platform to promote our own sport Kabaddi,” added a very proud Abhishek Bachchan.

The Pro Kabaddi League is being organised by the International Kabaddi Federation, Asian Kabaddi Federation and Amateur Federation Of IndiaThe promoters have roped in the Singapore based World Sports Group to market the event. All matches would be played on specially developed mats in state of art indoor stadia across eight cities.

Ahead of the league’s commencement, a players auction featuring seventy two Indian and twenty eight overseas players, including Pakistanis, would be held between June 07, 2014 and ten to help the franchise build their personnel.

The other foreign players are from Afghanistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Canada, England, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Nepal, Malaysia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Turkmenistan.

The matches will be held from July 26, 2014 to August 31, 2014 and would be telecast live on Star Sports.[/tps_footer]
