MUMBAI: While his ‘Paa’ and biwi- Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were away playing hide-and-seek with the world’s media in Cannes, the Junior B aka Abhishek Bachchan was upto a little game-playing himself.
The young actor and avid football fan was spotted at the Indian Football awards 2013, at the Bombay Gymkhana in South Mumbai recently.
Abhishek was invited to present the awards to players, at a glittering event hosted by the Football Players Association of India at Bombay Gymkhana.
Former Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia, Rahul Bose and Dino Morea were also present at the star-spangled event. Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia too put in an appearance, as did Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel.
Abhishek Bachchan, suitably formally clad in a sharp grey suit, said in his speech that he was eagerly looking forward to the day when the Indian football team would qualify for the World Cup.
It has also been learnt that Abhishek has been invited to watch the Uefa Champions’ League as a special guest.
Says a source: “It’s a well known fact that Abhishek Bachchan loves football and had everyone impressed during the Playing for Humanity games, as he captained the All Stars Football Club against the All Hearts Football Club that had their matches earlier this year……He is the only celebrity to be invited to watch the finals at Wembley and will be a huge part of the practise sessions as well.”
