Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Remember the tacky Neelam Show? Yo! You do! Great. So you will also remember in one of the episodes Neelam plays a game where she will start with a word and whatever comes in people’s mind should form the next word. You will notice, a man wearing a white cap is asked these questions and he mentions that his girlfriend shouldn’t wait for him as he has found someone else. Well, the man is Nikhil Advani, the man who made Kal Ho Naa Ho and his newfound love was Farah Khan.
Andaz Apna Apna
Did you know this film was almost cancelled from getting screened at the theatre during its release? Yes, the prints hadn’t reached the distributors on time and they in turn didn’t publicise about the film. The prints reached at the last minute and the film got only three days promotion. Now you know why the film didn’t fare too well at the theatres.
Dil Toh Pagal Hai
The role of Nisha was rejected by Juhi Chawla, Raveena Tandon, Manisha Koirala, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar and Shilpa Shetty before Karisma Kapoor made it hers. The reason behind the six ladies’ rejection was they didn’t want to play second fiddle to Madhuri Dixit. Karisma not only did it but also walked away with a National Award and Filmfare Award. Who’s having the last laugh now?
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
You will be shocked to know that Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t Aditya Chopra’s first choice for DDLJ. He wanted to make a love story about an American boy and an Indian girl. He was even contemplating approaching Tom Cruise for the role. Thankfully, he didn’t or Bollywood would have been deprived of its favourite romantic hero!
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Katrina Kaif’s introductory scene had put the makers of the film in a tight spot. They recced the place before shooting but when they returned few months later to shoot, they found out it was nude beach. They had to be careful the entire time to not have a bare person walk through the frame.
Like a true perfectionist, Aamir Khan suggested to Rajkumar Hirani that Sharman Joshi , Madhavan and he should get drunk to add authenticity to their drunken scene. But they were so sloshed, Hirani was finding it difficult to get an okay shoot and eventually, he ran out of reels. They had borrow reel from a nearby place where a local film was getting shot.
