MUMBAI: Another year, another honour for the legendary Bollywood superstar, actor of great repute and most humble actor- Amitabh Bachchan.
Just yesterday, the still-fit 70-year old superstar was felicitated at Mumbai University, for his immense, incredible contribution to the Indian film industry as a talented performer, and for his social contribution to humanity as a whole. He was humbled by the University citation, which he said he “accepted with emotion.” Clad in a dark blue conservative suit, Amitabh Bachchan lit the ceremonial lamp and accepted the honour with utmost humility, as is his wont.
Tweeted the superstar Shehenshah of Indian cinema: “T 988 – Another decoration for me by the University of Mumbai, this evening at their annual seminar, by educational luminaries .. humbled!” And sample another: “T 988 – The citation and the words of generous being, most undeserving, but filled with compassion and pride, accepted with emotion ..!!”
Amitabh Bachchan was honoured to be the chief guest at the valedictory function of a conference on International Commerce and Management on re-inventing trade, commerce and management in global scenario at University of Mumbai in Kalina, on Friday evening.
Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog, to express his gratitude and pleasure for the felicitation: “The University of Mumbai felicitates me … they give me huge amount of blessings and gratitude … the Commerce department tells me that I form a portion of their syllabus … teaching my phenomena to the students … they find it interesting enough for it to be a tool as a case study ..”
The incredibly humble and modest Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan further added how embarrassed he was: “I have never felt so embarrassed before … I shall acknowledge your affection but to attribute all else to me and to give me that additional value is not something that I would endorse or accept!!!”
