2017 has not been a good year for Bollywood. We have lost iconic gems like Om Puri, Vinod Khanna, and Shashi Kapoor. One of the finest stars of Hindi cinema and a Member of the Parliament Vinod Khanna, 70, passed away earlier this year on April 27. Though the veteran actor was suffering from bladder cancer and had lost a lot of weight in the past two years; Mr. Khanna’s passing was a shock to everybody. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan paid an emotional homage to his friend and co-star Vinod Khanna at the Star Screen Awards 2017. Bachchan said that the untimely passing of his friend is a ‘painful’ experience.

“Remembering a friend that has left us before time is painful and most sad… Our condolences and prayers for his soul…” wrote Amitabh Bachchan alongside his picture giving a tribute to his friend, Vinod Khanna. It seemed like Bachchan was moved to tears while talking of his late friend.

Amitabh Bachchan was close to Vinod Khanna and was clearly, left distraught due to his sudden passing.

On the night of April 27, Amitabh Bachchan in an emotional blog post reminisced his time Vinod Khanna.

In the blog post, he recollected how they first met while Bachchan was still looking for work. How Vinod Khanna took him to the only disco club in the city in his yellow Volkswagen Beetle. How confident Vinod Khanna was, how his charm was infectious, how “there was always an optimistic swagger about him”. Bachchan wrote about all the times cried together and all the times they laughed boisterously.

The duo had worked together in several films. The most iconic being Amar Akbar Anthony, Here Pheri, Parvarish and Muqaddar Ka Sikandar.

Last we saw Vinod Khanna on the big screen was in Salman Khan starrer Dabangg and Dabangg 2. He was also seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale.
