MUMBAI: Sasheh Agha, the pretty young actress makes her debut in the upcoming YRF film ‘Aurangzeb’. Iconic Pakistani actress and singer Salma Agha’s young daughter proves to be feisty, fearless, ambitious and excited in her very first series of interviews with the press.

An excerpt of the conversation:

Q. What an incredible launch! Big banner, big co-stars. Did you expect this big a debut?
Sasheh: I’m extremely happy, I think this is destiny and God’s blessings, what more can I say.

Q. So, how did the casting happen?
Sasheh: The first audition I gave to was to Yash Raj Films, and Shyamal Sharma the casting director had taken my audition. Then I got a call from YRF and Adi sir, saying we want you for this film and we’ve liked you for the concept of you being in this character. It just happened, like, overnight! I was very very happy and everything turned out really nicely.

Q. Being the daughter of an icon – Salma Agha, comparisons will be inevitable. Are you nervous about that, and do you have a strategy to deal with these?
Sasheh: Well, I’m very happy about the fact that she’s been presented in a very different way in her films, and I’ve done something very different. But being her daughter, there’ll always be comparisons, but she’s my mom and I’m very happy with the things I’m hearing about the film and the way people are responding to it.

Q. Which of your mother’s films would you like to do, given a chance?
Sasheh: Yeah, why not? I’d love to do ‘Nikaah’, such an iconic, big hit so I’d love to do something like that in my kitty.

Q. Along with an acting debut, you’re also making a singing debut in ‘Aurangzeb’ with Barbaadiyaan. Tell us about your journey as a singer?
Sasheh: Yeah, it’s doubly special for me because when I auditioned, the casting director asked me can you sing, can you dance? So she was like ok, can you sing me a song? I sung a song and Adi sir saw the audition and when I got signed on for the film, he was like “tum gaa logi na?” and this is something I’ve always loved, I’ve loved my music, so I’m grateful to be given an opportunity to be singing and getting launched as an actress.

Q. What was it like working with stalwarts like Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Deepti Naval in your first film?
Sasheh: It was a huge learning process for me, to be around such senior actors, you get to learn so much from them. So I’m really glad and grateful for this opportunity, and hope that people will like the film.
