Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are trying to beat each other, in terms of Box Office collections. This is a well known fact. Both, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have termed this as a ‘healthy competition’.
First let’s look at the history:
1999: Salman Khan romanced Aishwarya Rai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. 2000: Shah Rukh Khan was paired opposite Aishwarya Rai in two films – Josh and Devdas.
2005: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif came together for the very first time in David Dhawan‘s Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? 2012: Shah Rukh Khan was paired opposite Katrina Kaif for the first time in Yash Chopra‘s blockbuster Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
2007: Shah Rukh Khan introduced Deepika Padukone in this home production Om Shanti Om. Well, and in 2015 Salman Khan will be romancing Deepika Padukone for the first time in Sooraj Barjatya‘s Bade Bhaiya. The film is scheduled to go on floors in 2014. Deepika is currently shooting for Farah Khan‘s Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan.
Coming back: Now, it’s very clear that Deepika Padukone is the only actress to have worked with Shah Rukh Khan first before signing on a film with Salman Khan.
For Sooraj Barjatya’s Bade Bhaiya, Deepika fitted the bill to perfection. She has an Indian face with a traditional and demure image.
Tho, Sooraj had a tough time choosing the leading lady this time. He’s coming back with Salman Khan after a gap of fifteen years. Now, with Salman Khan at the top position, getting the right female lead was very critical for Sooraj. Ileana D’Cruz and Parineeti Chopra were considered before Deepika was finally signed for the role.
Interestingly, even before Shah Rukh Khan had signed Deepika Padukone for Om Shanti Om, Salman Khan had spotted her. Salman was impressed with Deepika, when he saw her in a television commercial and he had recommended her name to one of his director friends. But Farah Khan signed her before that. For Bade Bhaiya, it’s learnt that again Salman Khan had recommended Deepika Padukone. If our sources are to be believed, then Salman Khan has a double role in Bade Bhaiya.
