[tps_footer]Juhi Chawla’s brother, Bobby Chawla had been in hospital since April 2010. Bobby Chawla breathed his last at the Jaslok Hospital at around 06:30 am, on March 09, 2014.
Bobby, as he was known amongst family and friends, suffered a brain hemorrhage while dining at a South Mumbai restaurant in April, 2010. Juhi Chawla, who was in Kolkata at that time for a Kolkata Knight Riders match, hurriedly flew down to be by her ailing brother’s side. But despite the best of treatment, Bobby was in the state of coma for four years, before passing away.
“This is the perfect screenplay, look at how my brother timed it. He gave me the biggest gift of my lifetime, saw its release and went away,” Juhi posted on twitter.
“His health was stable, but suddenly on Saturday his blood pressure started falling and his organs began to fail,” revealed a friend of Juhi.
“I got a call from her around 07:00 am informing me that Bobby is gone. Juhi is heart-broken but at the same time she’s consoling herself with the thought that he’s finally at peace,” added the friend.
Bobby Chawla was the Chief Executive Officer of Red Chillies Entertainment, the company owned by Shah Rukh Khan.
The moment Shah Rukh Khan, who was in Chennai for the music launch of Kochadaiiyaan, got to know about it took on to twitter and wrote, “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May Allah bless my friend’s soul.”
Madhuri Dixit also took to twitter and wrote, “Condolences to Juhi for her loss.”
“RIP Bobby Chawla – a true gentleman – always wore a smile on his face and had warmth when he greeted you. Condolences to the entire family,” Riteish Deshmukh tweeted.
“Bobby Chawla – always smiling always affable. You will be missed. Heartfelt condolences to Juhi and all the family. Strength be with you.” wrote film writer Ombar Qureshi on twitter.
Juhi Chawla and Madhuri Dixit, who were supposed to inaugurate a fashion event in Goa, cancelled their appearance.
“Unfortunately Juhi Chawla’s brother passed away so she cancelled. Also Madhuri Dixit couldn’t come as she will be attending the funeral,” informed Richa Maheshwari, the organiser of the event.
Bobby Chawla’s cremation took place at Banganga crematorium in South Mumbai. While Juhi broke down in front of her brother’s body minutes before the last rights were performed, Shah Rukh Khan was seen consoling his friend and Bobby’s wife Anuradha Chawla during the cremation.
The funeral was attended by close friends Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Shaina NC, Farah Khan, Mickey Contractor, Sujoy Ghosh, Anubhav Sinha, Madhoo among others.[/tps_footer]
