[tps_footer]Weekend collections help a filmmaker earn a lot if the hype about his film is right but it is the first week gross that decides whether or not the film is a hit in Bollywood. Similarly, debut films mark the entry of a talent in the industry and it is amazing if it works our well. But it is the second film that seals his or her fate in the industry. That’s the litmus test everyone has to pass. However, many a times, actors and actresses have lost the second round which put their career in jeopardy. Here are some of them…
Kumar Gaurav
It is unbelievable how Rajendra Kumar’s Kumar Gaurav became a sensation overnight. It was a snap rise to fame which blinded everyone with the hope of discovering the hit machine with Love Story. But Teri Kasam couldn’t repeat the success of his first film although it was a hit. Although he received acclaim for Janam and Naam, not much could be said about his career post that.
Imran Khan
Imran had a similar experience with filmdom as Kumar Gaurav. Being Aamir Khan’s nephew worked immensely for Imran and he was launched with a quirky love story Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Naa. Given the humorous flavor and the evergreen concept of love confusion, the film fared pretty well trumping Harman Baweja’s debut multi-crore vehicle Love Story 2050. But what followed doesn’t deserve any mention.
Ayushman Khurrana
Ayushmann was a very uncanny actor. He was a great anchor with a witty sense of humour and as a VJ was quite popular. Vicky Donor perhaps needed a guy of such skills and that’s why the film was an amazing success. But redoing the same act can backfire and that’s what happened withg Nautanki Sala. It didn’t work, neither did Bewakoofiyan.
Ileana Dcruz
She played the petite first love of Barfi in the film by same name whose cast had stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Yet she stood her ground and delivered a great performance. She got noticed and offers flew in but it seems she made the wrong choices. Nothing much can be said about her next career moves if your second film is called Phata Poster Nikhla Hero.
Karthi Tiwari
Remember the 22 minute monologue in Pyaar Ka Punchama and the guy who mouthed it? Yes we are talking about the cute looking Karthik who was much appreciated in the film. But he couldn’t follow it up well with dampeners like Kaanchi and Aakash Vani.
