[tps_footer]The much-talked film Rangoon starring Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan released on Friday, February 24th. The film, which is set against the backdrop of the Second World War 2, was high on promotions. Well, Rangoon has opened to approximately 1800 screens across the India and the film has received mixed reviews from the film critics as well as from the audience. Though the film is being heard and talked about everywhere, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Rangoon could not create wonders at the Box Office on its first day.
Rangoon took a very poor start of around 10-15% in the morning shows and considering Friday was a holiday in many parts due to Mahashivratri, the film was expected to bring a decent figure by the end of the day. Well, as per early estimates, Rangoon has a very low opening day of around Rs 5 crore (50 million) nett on its first day. The film has underperformed at many places but the performance in Delhi / UP and East Punjab was better due to the holiday.
Well, Rangoon can entirely depend on the positive word of mouth spreads that might give a good push in collections over the weekend. The film has to reach double digits on Saturday or Sunday to showcase a sustainable growth at the Box Office. Also, since the film will enjoy a solo release, it should witness a good run at the Box Office for the entire one week.
