MUMBAI: Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar seems to be on a spree of new projects! After announcing ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ with Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan to be directed by Punit Malhotra, and another Untitled project with Kareena and Emraan Hashmi, we hear of two more projects under the wraps.
A source tell us that Karan is all set to wield the megaphone with the lovely Rani Mukerji and Bhatt protege Randeep Hooda. The project reportedly titled ‘Bombay Talkies’ is an anthology film consisting of four short stories, shot by four different directors (Karan Johar himself, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap)
“Karan’s next is a love story between Rani Mukerji and Randeep Hooda. The movie also has Saqib Saleem (Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge, 2011) playing a pivotal role. ‘Bombay Talkies’, has a realistic story and is set against the backdrop of Mumbai. Karan will, for the first time, be shooting at real locations in the city,” says the source.
This should be a change for the filmmaker who usually prefers exotic locations from Switzerland to Thailand. What’s interesting is that Karan will be working with Rani Mukerji after a very long gap, and will direct Randeep for the first time.
We hear that the aim is to have ‘Bombay Talkies’ release as soon as 3 May 2013 with a view to celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema! At a swift pace, the team has already begun shooting this week.
Other than’Bombay Talkies’, Karan has announced plans for a sequel to his 2012 sleeper hit – ‘Student of the Year. After launching three new talents Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, Karan says he wants to launch more newbies.
“For all those asking….definitely planning SOTY 2….Dharma plans to make it a franchise and launch new talent with it each time,” tweeted the filmmaker.
Now while no dates or names have been mentioned, this is definitely a big news for aspiring actors from all across the country.
