Celebrating Independence Day With Shah Rukh Khan

Phir-Bhi-Dil-hai[tps_footer]We are going to enter the 68th Independence year for India. Bollywood has always celebrated the spirit of Independence with patriotic films and songs. But this time the Independence Day is coinciding with the grand launch of Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year. So here are some patriotic songs from Shah Rukh’s films.

Kuch Kariye (Chak De! India)

When the song was first released, it easily became an anthem that was getting played at every sporting event in India. And why wouldn’t it? The song was beautifully picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and his team of Hockey girls practicing for the World Cup. It still gives gooseflesh.

Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera (Swades)

This is perhaps the only song which reminds evey Indian about India and why we should be grateful for this land and freedom. Even today it can instill a sense of responsibility in us towards our nation. Given Shah Rukh Khan character in the film, the song worked perfectly to evoke the right emotions.

Aisa des hai mera (Veer Zara)

Don’t we always boast about the many good things about our India? We do. This song from Veer Zara explains that fact and also beautifully amalagamates the similarity of land across border. So why do we fight?

Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani)

It is cocky, it is funky yet it is bang on. Shah Rukh Khan shot this promotional song for the film which explains perfectly what we are and how we deal with our nation. It is although funny, it does remind of us the callous way we take our country.[/tps_footer]
