DEDH ISHQIYA: Vishal Bharadwaj Quietly Records With Qawwalls In Pakistan

While it is generally believed that both Gulzar and Vishal had to cut their Pakistan visit short for fear of a backlash after Afzal Guru’s death, they deny it

MUMBAI: The historic song for which the poet par excellence Gulzar flew to Pakistan has been recorded quietly.

It is generally believed that earlier this month Vishal Bharadwaj and Gulzar had to return empty-handed from Pakistan without the song for Abhishek Choubey’s ‘Dedh Ishqiya’.

Confirms the ‘Dedh Ishqiya director’ Abhishek Choubey, “Vishal went to Pakistan for the voice recording of the Qawwalls Meher Ali and Sher Ali. The recording was completed on the first day.”

While it is generally believed that the distinguished duo had to cut their Pakistan visit short for fear of a backlash after Afzal Guru’s death, both Gulzar and Vishal stoutly denied any political motive behind their hasty return to India.
