Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’s Hand Painted Poster By Calcutta Artists

Sushant-Singh-RajputDibakar Banerjee is set to mark history with his upcoming film ” Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! “The film which is on the cult detective character set in 1943 will have its first poster launch in Calcutta on 20th December. On December 20, 1943, Japan had done an aerial bomb attack on Calcutta right on The Great Eastern Hotel. Japan was then on an aerial attack spree and found Calcutta at a disadvantage, making it a easy target. The poster has captured this subtly.
While the very interesting poster will have a glimpse of Sushant as the detective it will also have the elements of the Japanese attack. To add to this the makers have even kept the poster to suit the era. They would have a hand painted poster, which has been done by artists from Calcutta. When contacted Dibakar he laughed at the rumours doing the rounds and added, “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is an answer to Sherlock Holmes, not Sherlock Holmes. Byomkesh Bakshy remains the first and the most famous Detective in India wholly and solely Indian at heart, actions, methods, setting and style.

This is the first time that Byomkesh will be on the big screen for all of India and the world! Why ignore the real Byomkesh stories – some of the most striking and original in the world – and borrow from a English franchise with no desi connect? Byomkesh Bakshy is an original and Desi jawab to Sherlock Holmes in Desi bhasha.

Sushant Singh Rajput will essay the lead role and will be pitted against an evil genius, who is out to destroy the world. Presented by Yash Raj Films, “Detective Byomkesh Bakshy” has been directed and produced by Dibakar Banerjee, and is slated to release on 13thFebruary 2015.
