MUMBAI: Major changes are being worked out within the four walls of Late Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna’s disputed citadel Ashirwaad.
As soon the current legal wrangle regarding the deceased superstar’s property are over Dimple intends to move into the bungalow, for “purely emotional reasons”.
Says a source close to the family, “The real reason why Kakaji’s health had declined so drastically is his negligence towards his food and diet and other daily health-related activities. In his last few years Kaka became a complete loner with just a few servants to attend to his meals. He ate alone, and ate randomly. Woh kuch bhi kha lete (he ate anything). Na waqt pe sona na jagna. No exercise, not even a walk. He was a sitting duck for ill health. And when it happened it didn’t surprise anyone.”
Dimple apparently feels responsible for the superstar’s neglect and decline.
According to the family friend, Rajesh Khanna craved for his family’s support in his last days. “The doctors had warned him. If he wanted to live he needed to change his lifestyle. Most important of all he needed his own family to be near him. Kaka, we are sorry to say, drove everyone away. He probably never thought he would need anyone again. Age and infirmness taught him the value of a support system.”
Luckily for him his family including his son-in-law Akshay Kumar rallied around the aging superstar during his final days.
And Ashirwaad seemed like home again.
According to sources, his former wife Dimple Kapadia is seriously thinking of moving back into Ashirwaad once the legal dispute is resolved.
Says the family friend, “The bond between Kakajee and Dimpleji grew very strong in his final days. She knew how to cope with a health crisis. She lost a sister to a terminal illness. And Dimple battled with the disease along with her sister. She has the inner strength needed to cope with a grave medical crises. And she used that strength to look after her husband in his final days.”
Apparently Dimple is seriously considering moving back into the home that houses many beautiful memories.
“She never really stopped looking at Ashirwaad as her home even when she moved away from Rajesh Khanna. Moving back seems like the natural thing to do,” says the friend.
