MUMBAI: Sanjay Dutt or ‘Sanju Baba’ as everyone lovingly addresses the Bollywood star, has gone back to Pune’s Yerwada jail, just few days before Diwali.
It was a very emotional farewell for Sanjay Dutt and his family. Initially, he was granted parole for fourteen days starting October 01, 2013 on medical grounds and later was granted a two week extension.
Today, October 30, 2013 he finally returned to Pune Yerwada Jail where the actor is serving remaining forty two months of his sentence.
Before leaving, Sanjay Dutt thanked the media for respecting his privacy during the time of his stay out of the jail. His wife Manyata Dutt had accompanied him to the gate of the jail. Sanjay Dutt told the media that his condition has improved, but still he has pain in his legs.
“I still have a problem in my legs but it’s better now; just pray for me so that I can come out soon. Happy Diwali to all,” were Dutt’s last words before going in.
Sanjay Dutt was punished after he was found guilty of illegally possessing arms. The arms found at his place were from the same consignment which was later used in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. He was sentenced for five years. Since he had earlier served eighteen months of imprisonment, this time Sanjay Dutt is serving the remaining forty two months of imprisonment. He has been in jail since May 16 2013.
Sanjay Dutt will celebrate Diwali with jail inmates.
