The New Year has already brought us much cheer and joy: for today, on the 2nd of January, 2013, superstar Shah Rukh Khan has brought us a special new year’s present. Yes, ladies and gentlemen,  the actor has revealed the first series of first look posters from his much-awaited 2013 release: ‘Chennai Express’!

A series of three very interesting posters have been unveiled for SRK fans especially on this auspicious day in the New Year. And here, we bring to our readers the exclusive first look trio of posters from the Rohit Shetty stables…

The first of this triumvirate of posters sees the superhit ‘Om Shanti Om’ pair i.e. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, riding atop a scooter which has the number plate ‘TN 555’: symbolic of the land of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where the film is set. Shah Rukh seems to be rescuing his ladylove from the assortment of goons that are close on their trail; sickles and other weapons in hand.

The tagline deserves a special mention: ‘Ready Steady Po!’ which is a Tamil alliteration to the usual ‘Ready Steady Go’ in English. And naturally, in true Rohit Shetty style, we see cars being blown up in the background: very slick, very action-packed!

The second poster of the series sees the hero of the film, Shah Rukh Khan being airlifted by a collection of south Indian men. Presumably Shah Rukh is fighting these Chennai gundas, and has emerged victorious. In one hand, he carries an earthen pot; the significance of which will be revealed to us once the film’s promos hit the airwaves.

The last and final poster sees the lead pair, Shah Rukh and Deepika clad in typical south Indian attire: lungi and a vest, covered with a shirt. The duo is seen on railway tracks, a reference to the title perhaps ‘Chennai Express’, and has a pistol in hand. In the backdrop, we see the selfsame Chennai goons menacing at them, and the film’s title on a green-coloured train in the distance.

The posters have certainly piqued our curiosity, and we positively cannot wait for the film’s theatrical release. Co-produced by Gauri Khan and Karim Morani, ‘Chennai Express’ is presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Red Chillies Entertainment. Directed by king of the action-comedy genre, Rohit Shetty, ‘Chennai Express’ will release later this year.
