Poised, Graceful and Talented, well that’s how one can describe Dimple Kapadia, who turns a year older today, June 08, 2014.
Still considered as one of the most beautiful women in the industry, Dimple Kapadia secured a place for herself in the hearts of her fans with her onscreen work. One of the leading actresses of her time, Dimple Kapadia was considered a sex symbol back in her days.
Dimple Kapadia made her acting debut at the age of sixteen playing the title role in Raj Kapoor‘s teen romance Bobby (1973).
During the shooting of Bobby, Dimple Kapadia was rumoured to be having an affair with Rishi Kapoor. However, Raj Kapoor was against the romance and immediately after the release of Bobby she tied the knot with superstar Rajesh Khanna.
Many even speculated that Dimple was an illegitimate child of Raj Kapoor and his love Nargis.
Immediately after her marriage she became a mother of two beautiful daughters; Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna.
Reportedly, it was Rajesh Khanna who put a ban on her acting career promptly after the marriage. Dimple Kapadia separated from Rajesh Khanna in April 1982, leaving the house with her two daughters back to her parents.
Dimple Kapadia returned to the film industry in 1984 after her separation from Rajesh Khanna with Saagar once again opposite Rishi Kapoor. Along with Rekha and Sridevi, she went on on to become one of three leading commercial actresses in India in the 1980’s.
Dimple Kapadia on her return to films was swept away by her co-star Sunny Deol. Both were deeply involved romantically. Though Sunny was married, their affair continued for eleven long years.
Some of her recent memorable performances are; Rudaali (1993), Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Leela (2002), Being Cyrus (2005), Luck By Chance (2009), Dabangg (2010) and Cocktail (2012).
Here’s wishing this talented lady all the best and a great life ahead.
