Shah Rukh Khan, the king Khan of Bollywood, is not only a distinguished actor but also an excellent orator with wit and grit and also has his own production company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
Red Chillies is a very offbeat name for a production company. Finally, we have the answer to why his company has such a name.
He revealed that Juhi Chawla once asked him, ‘Why have you named your company, Red Chillies?’ “And I was like, ‘just in case film-making fails, I’ll open a restaurant by the same name. Red Chillies Restaurant toh chalega hi (laughs),” SRK added.
Talking to a leading daily, Shah Rukh Khan opened up about his intention to open a restaurant. “I know it sounds very girlish (smiles). But then, I’m all for the empowerment of women. I want to be equal to women. I want to go higher up to their level, instead of thinking that they have to go higher. But I genuinely want to cook,” Shah Rukh Khan said.
While food has always been considered as an art, the 51-year-old actor very aptly made a comparison between food and acting. He said, “I think of acting too as ‘serving’. As an actor, when you serve and present your acting, you hope people like and enjoy it as much as you enjoyed making it [the film]. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. Plus, you don’t impose yourself on people and be like accha laga ya nahi? (did you like it or not?). You just serve. I like to serve people in the house.”
Incidentally, SRK has never played a role of a chef in any of his films in his career spanning over 25 years. He will next be seen in Imtiaz Ali’s film opposite Anushka Sharma where he plays a tour guide.
