Vidya Balan looked stunning in a Satya Paul sari that she wore during the inaugural event of the IIFA Awards. Vidya teamed the sari with a shocking orange coloured blouse and earrings from the Manish Arora’s Amrapali Collection.
The bay area expects more than thirty thousand visitors during the 15th Annual International Indian Film Academy‘s Weekend and Awards, scheduled from April 23, 2014 to April 26, 2014.
The weekend culminates with IIFA’s signature green carpet and awards show at Raymond James Stadium. Tickets for the main awards show are selling for up to $3,295 each.
This is the first time IIFA Awards has held the celebration in the United States, and organizers hope for a cross-cultural blossoming in India-U.S. trade, tourism and entertainment.
“America is the second largest market for Hindi movies internationally, which is why it’s apt that we have it here. There is a wide variety within Indian cinema. I don’t think people have been exposed to the variety, so you can’t blame them for believing that Hindi films, Indian cinema is all about song and dance.” said an elated Viday Balan.
During the IIFA Weekend, Vidya Balan will conduct an acting workshop with Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey.
“For me, the definition of an actor is really someone who lives different people’s lives each time. Today I’m being offered a great variety of roles and parts that are exciting, and engaging. A good film always works.” stated Viday Balan as she interacted with the media.
To give an idea of the audience of the upcoming International Indian Film Academy Weekend And Awards, Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn compared it to the Super Bowl in January.
About 120 million people tuned in for the 2014 Super Bowl, whereas 800 million people are expected to view the 15th Annual International Indian Film Academy Awards, Bob Buckhorn said.
All said and done, this year the IIFA Awards are way beyond anyone’s imagination. The passion, glamor and glitz can never be captured unless you are physically there.
