It may be the most challenging role of his life. But sound-designer Resul Pookutty is all set to cast the Big B as a Pakistani national in his directorial debut.
The script has already been submitted to the Big B and it is learnt that the mega-star on the look-out for new challenges, has shown a keen interest in what could turn out to be a controversial character because of its nationality.
However, one learns the Big B has verbally given his nod to the project.
When contacted Resul was cautious, “Yes, I have approached Mr Bachchan for the film that I want to direct. The character is from another country. But it is not a political film. It’s an extremely humane subject that touches lives of people on both sides of the border.”
The subject came to Resul from a close friend. “It’s written by an old classmate of mine Amitabh Singh. The idea came to him from a news report that he saw on a television channel CNN-IBN. When he came to me with the script I was completely blown away. I had to direct this film, and direct it with Mr Bachchan in the lead.”
Resul says his “Big Brother” A R Rahman has consented to do the music for this project.
