MUMBAI: Kareena Kapoor Khan, quintessential Bollywood diva, now has a career in writing to boot, in addition to her super successful career in films. The lady seems to have it all, post her wedding to the Nawab of Pataudi Saif Ali Khan. And now she isn’t afraid to share her secrets either…
Kareena was spotted at the launch of her book, ‘Style Diary of A Bollywood Diva’, which she co-wrote with author Rochelle Pinto, in a black Tom Ford super sleek dress and a stunning pale gold belt to match. Looking every bit the style diva that she is, she wowed us with her elegant sartorial choice for the book launch. The book, which has Kareena’s tips and tricks on styling, weight loss and other aspects of her fabulous life, is published by Shobhaa De Books and Penguin India.
Said a delighted Kareena at the book launch: “There is something for people from 14 to 35 years. My husband is 40 plus so there has to be something for the 40 plus.” Author Shobhaa De, designers Vikram Phadnis and Pria Kataria Puri and South Bombay socialites Queenie Dhody and Ramona Narang were also present at the stylish event.
We ask Kareena how she forayed into books and literature (since she’s never struck us as the literary kind), and she was candid enough to reveal: “When (writer Shobhaa) De called me for this book, I thought I might write a book when I’m 60. What if something more interesting happens 20 years later? But she said it was going to be a style diary. Then I realised: ‘Yes, I’m stylish and I should take the compliment,’ I took the responsibility of how it feels like to be a style diva. This style diary is something that reflects my style personality.”
Which naturally led us to asking her if an autobiography is in the offing. “I don’t want to write about my struggles. People know about that and I don’t think that’s interesting. I don’t know what my next book would be but if at all I write will an autobiography. Autobiography definitely but not now,” smiled the gorgeous Begum of Pataudi.
And no conversation with Kareena is complete without alluding to her weight. We noticed that she’s lost her post-wedding weight, and conveyed the same to her, to which she quipped, “Nice to hear the compliment that I have lost weight. Yes, I have lost weight and I’m following a new style of yoga which is very tiring. But I’m enjoying it.”
