Sanjay Dutt is making a comeback to Bollywood with Omung Kumar’s revenge drama, Bhoomi. It is slated to hit the cinemas on August 4, 2017. This movie, made under the banner of Bhushan Kumar led T-Series, will see the actor for the first time on the big screen after he completed his jail term.
Of course there is a lot of hype and excitement that surrounds the movie, but seems like it doesn’t get to have all attention for itself. It shares the release date with Secret Superstar, a movie under Aamir Khan Productions’ banner and also in which he makes a cameo appearance.
Though 2017 seems like a year of clash, starting with the big clash of Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil, trade experts are not labeling this fight at the ticket window a clash.
“This is not a clash on the scale of, let’s say, a Raees and Kaabil. But, at the end of the day it is the coming together of two heavyweights on the same day. Both films would be looked at quite keenly,” said a trade expert.
Coincidentally, Sanju Baba was last seen in Aamir Khan’s PK, where he had a small but substantial role.
The clash maybe averted, as Bhoomi is yet to go on floor. But seems like it won’t. A source close to the film said, “So far, the two things that have been officially confirmed are the facts that Bhoomi would mark Dutt’s comeback on screen and the release date. As is the saying, there is many a slip between the sip and the lip. Both films are still more than six months away. Much can change in time to come.”
Let’s see what happens at the box-office next year.
