MUMBAI: Priyanka Chopra has got her dancing shoes on, for she will be seen in a very special number in filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming ‘Ram Leela’.
Speculation was rife that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would do a special number for her good friend Bhansali, but Ms Chopra has stepped into the frame, and will begin shooting for the number from today onwards.
Priyanka is no stranger to one-song appearances, with her last two songs ‘Babli Badmaash’ and ‘Pinky Paisewali’ catapulting her into the top slot, as far as such songs are concerned.
Sources indicate that an elaborate, colourful set, true to Bhansali’s style, has been erected at Film City. The lavish set will see Priyanka dance to steps designed by choreographer Vishnu Deva. Priyanka’s ethnic outfit in the song will be designed by Anju Modi, designer for heroine Deepika Padukone’s look in the period film.
A source revealed, “Bhansali was scouting for a choreographer and he had seen Vishnu’s work in ‘Oh My God’ where he had choreographed the ‘Go Go Govinda’ number and he had also choreographed for ‘Rowdy Rathore’.”
Reportedly, the special song is to be full of female dancers, with a team of 20 dancers backing up Priyanka. Reports also suggest that the dance number will be very traditional, considering the film ‘Ram Leela’ is a Gujarati version of the fabled Shakespearean tragedy ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
