The flavor for this season in Bollywood is undoubtedly: Disco!
The latest song to be released from ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ is ‘Ishq Shava’. A fast paced, bhangra-style number, which is already trending on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and the video generating thousands of views in its first few hours of release!
The song features the lead pair of the film, Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, swaying to the lilting beats of the song. The duo is seen portraying some seriously sizzling chemistry, and some killer moves on the dance floor!
The vibe of the song is very disco-esque, and the look of the song is that of a rocking dance party, on the streets of London. The singers who have crooned this song are Raghav Sachar, of ‘Angel Eyes’ fame and Shilpa Rao.
The song is extremely catchy, and we won’t be surprised if it soon tops all the music charts and is heard playing in discos and clubs all over the country.
Shah Rukh is seen in his trademark boy-next-door avatar, with a funky twist. Clad in black pants, a black tee-shirt and a blue checked hooded shirt, he looks dapper and chic, much like the SRK we remember from films like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
He completes his look with a stylish black hat. Katrina sizzles in a black tank top and short black skirt, and is later seen wearing a red leather jacket. She oozes oomph and grace as she salsas and shimmies with the King Khan.
The song has been expertly choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, and Shah Rukh and Katrina have done a splendid job in carrying out the dance director’s vision for the song. They both look extremely hot, and are seen matching steps to perfection.
Seen are some totally new and innovative dance styles, which we have probably never seen in Bollywood before. The dance sequences and style is reminiscent of Hollywood dance movies like ‘Step Up’ and ‘Honey’.
The lyrics are catchy, and are penned by maestro lyricist Gulzaar. Very young and hip words are also used, like ‘Chand utha, chal toast karein” along with poetic words like “Marhabaa”.
The tune is extremely hummable and die-hard SRK fans just cannot wait to see how the song fits into the context of the rest of the film.
‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ releases on 13th November, Diwali. It is Yash Chopra’s last directorial venture before his tragic and untimely demise on 21st October.
