CHENNAI: Acclaimed Actor-Director Kamal Hassan has announced that he has now started working on the sequel of ‘Vishwaroopam’ and that the second film will be coming in 3D Sound Format which is also known as ‘Auro 3D’

Hassan, who has written, directed, acted in and co-produced the film confirmed: “We are doing ‘Vishwaroopam – 2’. We are working on it and are quite charged up for it. This time the sequel will come in Auro 3D.”

The Tamil star shared that ‘Vishwaroopam- 2’ has a high emotional quotient and that the film will also have a mother-son angle to the story. “It would be a continuation (of the first film). The movie would be completely shot in India and it would be made from a stronger emotional front, focusing on a mother-son relationship angle.”

Hassan also said that making the sequel will be much easier as the script is ready and rhythm of narration has already been established. ‘Vishwaroopam- 2’ has no changes in its star cast – Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar, Jaideep Ahlawat and Rahul Bose will all be seen returning in the sequel.

The first installement – ‘Vishwaroopam’ was caught in legal controversies regarding the film’s portrayal of Islam which aroused several Muslim political groups to protest against the film’s release in Tamil Nadu. There was an official ban imposed on the film in the state for 15 days by the Government. The ban resulted in similar decisions being made in Sri Lanka and Malaysia while the release was delayed in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Karnataka. Heeding to the requests of extremist groups, scenes perceived as controversial were muted, allowing the film for release on 7 February 2013 in Tamil Nadu.

Despite the fragmented release, ‘Vishwaroopam’ garnered generally favourable reviews from critics. The Tamil spy-thriller film, made on a budget of Rs 95 Crore, went on to gross over Rs 220 Crore.

‘Vishwaroopam- 2’ is directed and co-produced by Kamal Hassan. The film is written by  Kamal Hassan and Atul Tiwari and produced by Prasad Vara Potluri and S. Chandrashsan. The sequel is also likely to be released later this year.
