It was rumored that this new project was going to be very similar to ‘Sarabjit’ given the circumstances surrounding the announcement. Soon enough, it was assumed that ‘Simran’ would be same as ‘Sarbjit’, in which Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur. “The rumours were accentuated by the fact that Simran is a Punjabi name as could very possibly be a biopic.
Post the very controversial movie ‘Aligarh’, Hansal is gearing up to begin work on ‘Simran’ and he is ready to quash the speculations once for and all. He clarified that ‘Simran’ has nothing to do with ‘Sarbjit’. In any case, the film is set in the USA and Kangana is going to be playing a Gujarati girl.
He is looking forward to bringing ‘Simran’ on floors in April once Kangana is through with ‘Rangoon’. He added that the film was a completely new journey and he is nervous as well as excited. The film apparently has a lovely theme and it is very well-written. It also has a great character for someone of Kangana’s caliber. Mehta also said that the ‘Queen’ actress is very easy to work with and he has discovered that they match on a certain wavelength.
