MUMBAI: The unprecedented promotional blitzkrieg that Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn undertook during the release of ‘Son Of Sardaar’ in November 2012, has claimed its first casualty. One learns that Prakash Jha’s ambitious political thriller ‘Satyagrah’ which is to feature Ajay as an anti-corruption activist-politician, has now been moved forward by almost a month, from January to February 2013, apparently to accommodate the last shooting spell of Sajid Khan’s ‘Himmatwala’.
Explaing Ajay’s helpnessess in controlling his schedules a source close to Satyagrah says, “Ajay had no choice but to pitch in wholesale to promote ‘Son Of Sardaar’ in October and November. Due to the tussle he took on with Yashraj Films there was very little room for Ajay to shoot ‘Himmatwala’ as per schedule.”
With the ‘Himmatwala’ schedule getting delayed Ajay Devgn has no choice but to complete the earlier film before plunging into ‘Satygarah’, even if that means a delay in starting Prakash’s film. It can’t be helped.
Prakash, one hears, has sportingly taken the delay in his stride, although he had to waste the dates of the Big B and Kareena Kapoor, so that Ajay could accommodate the final schedule of ‘Himmatwala’.
Says the source, “It can’t be helped. Ajay’s dates got scrambled when he took time off to promote ‘Son Of Sardaar’. While he finishes ‘Himmatwala’ Prakash Jha has gone back to his script of ‘Satyagrah’ with Anjum Rajabali to do another draft. Prakash had in any case blocked the Big B’s, Kareena and Ajay’s dates from January to April 2013. He will now do a token shooting on January 26 and then wait for Ajay to be freed of his commitment to ‘Himmatwala’.”
