MUMBAI: Actor Kunal Kapoor, who had assisted filmmaker Rakesh Omprakash Mehra in “Aks”, plans to direct a short film soon.

“I would like to direct a short film in the near future. I find short films very interesting. So, yes, short film is something that I would love to do. But not the whole feature film right now,” said Kunal.

When quizzed about the subject of his short film, he replied, “There are a lot of ideas in my mind right now. I have an idea almost every day, but I have to develop the subject.” We wish him all the best in developing an apt story, as we are yet to see mainstream Bollywood actors wield the megaphone. The only exception in recent past being Aamir Khan and his moving story on dyslexia, ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

However, being the actor that he is, he claims commercial cinema will always be his first love.

“Obviously commercial success matters a lot to me. There is no two ways about it. I think as an actor, the most important thing is that your film should reach out to as many people as possible. If there is a choice between being critically acclaimed and commercial success, then I would chose commercial success,” he confessed to us most honestly.

Kunal is a critically acclaimed actor, who has films like Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Aaja Nachle’ under his belt. The good looking star has often been compared to the likes of Hrithik Roshan, who is also a good buddy of his.

Kunal is currently gearing up for his upcoming release, UTV’s quirky comedy “Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana”. Made by director Sameer Sharma, the film also stars Huma Qureshi and is slated for a Nov 2 release.
