The recently released sci-fi Bollywood flick Mr. X failed terribly both at box office and in the eyes of critics as well. Allegations were being made about who’s behind this failure and fingers were being pointed as to who is to blame for the film’s unsuccessful running. That’s when Mahesh Bhatt finally broke his silence and took the entire blame on himself.
Criticism is not always well met in the entertainment industry and in such a state coming forward and taking the whole responsibility is a commendable act. According to reports the failure of the film was being blamed on the producers Fox Star Studios for their lagging in the film’s proper marketing. This was creating rifts between the two production houses that have joined hands for multiple movies this year.
Mahesh Bhatt was quoted saying in a newspaper that although he wouldn’t blame anyone in particular for his mistake, sources had hinted to him that Mr. X was not marketed well. He further went on to say that Vishesh Films and Fox have sorted all the misunderstandings out and they have carried on with their next flick Hamari Adhuri Kahani featuring Emraan Hashmi again.
To clear the air and avoid further damage Mr. Mahesh Bhatt tweeted saying, “I will not pass the buck of the failure of Mr X to the Fox marketing team. We at Vishesh must take things in our stride and move on! BLAME ME. It is content and content alone which is responsible for a film’s failure. Mr X bombed at the box office because of my content!!”
Mr. X is the story of a common man who acquires the power of invisibility and uses it to fight against the evil by taking law into his own hands. The film was released on April 17 and is already out of the race due to major blockbusters like Furious 7 and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
