The Chandigarh lad who is truly a beacon for those who believe, Ayushmann Khurrana has a finish like no other. Born to an astrologer father (explains the extra alphabets in his name) he grew up in Delhi in an environment of literature since his mother pursued M.A. It resulted in him writing and also taking an interest in radio to express himself.
Despite an early kickstart in his career winning the MTV Roadies competition in 2004, he went back to complete his education and worked as Radio Jockey in Delhi for Big FM. He moved on to television, hosting shows for Mtv in 2008, apart from compering award shows and functions.
His film break in 2012, with the unexpected sleeper hit of the year Vicky Donor, put him in the bracket of talent to watch out for, after it got him all the debutant awards in the industry. His second film, Nautanki Saala released in 2013 did not do well. But that hasn’t changed expectations from him. He has signed a prestigious project under the Yashraj banner, and the makers of Vicky Donor are repeating him in yet another quirky titled film, Hamara Bajaj.
Things will take a good turn in 2014 when his new films arrive. Here’s hoping he returns to the screen with the same gusto as he did during his Roadie days, driven by a desire to win. Today, on his birthday, September 14, we wish him a very Happy Birthday and lots of good luck for his triumphant return.
