MUMBAI: Popular south director Mani Ratnam is planning to make a grand comeback with Oscar winning music director A R Rahman.
Buzz first suggested that the filmmaker had approached music director Ilaiyaraaja to work on his next film ‘Lajjo’ (a period film set in the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition) However putting all rumours to rest, his wife – actress Suhasini Mani Ratnam confirmed, “Rahman will be working on Mani’s next film.”
A R Rahman debuted as a music composer in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Roja’ (1992) and has enjoyed a long association with the filmmaker ever since.
The maestro won a National Award for Best Music Direction, Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for the film. In fact the music of ‘Roja’ appeared amongst the “10 Best Soundtracks” of all time listed by TIME magazine in 2005.
