Give us a little gist about both your songs, Rajaji and Tak Taki…
These are my first ever songs for Shankar Ehsaan Loy and it is my debut with them. Because Shankar Mahadevan has been my mentor for ten years now. I came in ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and Shankarji was my mentor. So it is eventually my first debut for Shankar Ehsaan Loy and of course, it’s something very prestigious and an honor to sing for ‘Manikarnika: The Jhansi Ki Rani’. Rajaji is basically a romantic song, as you have just one romantic song in the film. So it’s ‘the romantic song. Tak Taki is like more of a lullaby. So it’s sung on a very different note. It’s been sung in a lower pitch to get the correct feel. So you can say that both the songs are very different from each other yet very promising songs.
Is Rajaji more of a melody or foot tapping number?
The beats of the song are very beautiful. It’s a romantic dance number and of course you can dance on it.
Your thoughts about being associated with such a big film and being the voice of Kangana Ranaut in the film…
Well, I am extremely happy because you know this is probably a step ahead in my career, because till now which ever songs I have sung in Bollywood they couldn’t get that recognition. So, I am hoping this will get me to another league in Bollywood industry.
Which are the composers you want to work with?
I am of course looking forward to singing for everyone and all the composers. But, I would be very happy if I get to sing for A. R. Rehman Sir and of course I love every composer, every composer has a different style but Shankar Mahadevan Sir has always been my mentor so it is my dream come true that I have sung for him and that too for such a big project.
Your favorite actress or the actress for whom you wanna sing/lend your voice?
I want to sing for Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
