MUMBAI: Awards season has turned into a string of fashion extravaganzas off late, as far as Bollywood is concerned. With each passing awards show, we’re given more and more of a treat with our favourite stars wowing us with their fabulous sartorial choices.
And the Max Stardust awards which took place over the weekend was no different. Our Bollywood boys and babes were in their element, as they strutted down the red carpet in their glitzy finery.
The ladies were dressed to the nines in ball gowns and cocktail dresses. Priyanka Chopra, who took home two awards that night, was positively the chicest celebrity around, in her black halter gown. Sonakshi Sinha managed a decent indigo blue gown, while Bipasha Basu chose a mustard yellow ensemble. Vidya Balan stuck to her traditional kanjeevaram, and was accompanied by her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur, as she waltzed down the prestigious red carpet.
Newbies Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan kept it understated yet elegant: Alia in a white off-shoulder gown, while Varun stuck to a classic black suit. Parineeti Chopra was clad in an outlandish black lehenga, which would have looked nice if she’d turned down her makeup and elaborate hairdo a notch; while Anushka Sharma once again proved why she’s soon turning into a Bollywood fashionista in a black cleavage-revealing gown and a very 1960’s-esque Hollywood updo.
Other usual suspect at this awards night included Amitabh Bachchan, who made a quick walk down the red carpet in a dark suit, looking effortlessly stylish; Arjun Kapoor (looking lost without his usual gang of boys), Mugdha Godse, Sophie Choudhry, Mini Mathur with Kabir Khan, R Balki and Gauri Shinde, Gulshan Grover, Shazahn Padamsee and many many others. Sonu Sood was seen skulking around the red carpet, perhaps still upset about not being cast in the sequel to ‘Dabangg’.
Ayushmann Khurrana was upto his usual funny-man antics, posing with two awards atop his head like devil horns, while director Anurag Basu was all smiles on the red carpet as he walked in, since his film won a lot of big awards that night.
All in all, this edition of an awards night was most certainly star-studded, and had more that its fair share of glitz, glamour and glittering awardees. Oh and the performances were worth mentioning too: needless to say, Bollywood put on a power-packed show that night at the Max Stardust awards.
