MUMBAI: Bollywood has finally broken the “Curse of January”, as it were, with this weekend’s latest release: ‘Race 2’. Directed by Abbas-Mustan, ‘Race 2’ starring Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez has taken a very heartening start on its very first day.
‘Race 2’ has managed to break the shackles of what is usually known as the ‘January Curse’ in Bollywood, where even the biggest of films aren’t able to garner great numbers at the ticketing windows. A UTV Motion Pictures production, the film released on 25 January.
On day 1, the figures of ‘Race 2’ were an inspiring approximate Rs 150 million (15 crore) net. The big trade circles like Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab have welcomed the film to theatres wholeheartedly, and have bumped up the numbers considerably.
