[tps_footer]January 07, 2014 saw the music launch of Yash Raj Films Gunday that stars Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Irrfan Khan.
The entire venue had an old time charm to it, something that went well with the look and fell of the film. The evening was orchestrated with a dynamic and dramatic entry by Arjun and Ranveer, which was followed by yet another impressive entry by the leading lady of the film.
Priyanka looked smashing in a bright and abstract printed silk jumpsuit designed by designer duo Gauri and Nainika, A set of golden bangles and center-parted loose hair just nailed her look.
The song that was played at the launch was Maari Entriyaan, which happens to be a celebration of love of both Bikram and Bala for Nandita, the cabaret dancer.
For director Ali Abbas Zafar it was an emotional moment as Gunday was the last narration that the late filmmaker Yash Chopra had heard.
“It’s a very special film for all four of us and the whole unit because this was the last script that the great Yash Chopra heard, the last narration. It’s very special for us to do this film because he really loved the script and he believed in it,” said an emotional Ali Abbas Zafar at the launch.
Gunday is a story of two friends: Bikram and Bala. The film is set during Calcutta’s most unsettled times. Both friends are inseparable, have grown from small time goons, inconsequential wagon breakers, coal thieves to the biggest and most powerful black marketing mafia-men. As the infamy of these two renegades spread far and wife, the people of this sprawling city started calling the happy-go-lucky rebels.
White recreating the authenticity of Calcutta of the 1970s, director and writer, Ali Abbas Zafar also introduces us to the then prevalent world of cabaret dancing. Priyanka Chopra plays the role of Nandita, the gorgeous cabaret dancing of Gunday.
Gunday has been produced by Yash Raj Films, is written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film is scheduled to release on February 14, 2014.
