LONDON: Fashion designer Manish Malhotra presented Kashmiri craftsmanship in London on Saturday, and Bollywood beauties Parineeti Chopra and Urmila Matondkar walked down the ramp for their designer friend.

Malhotra’s work was exhibited at a Gala Fundraiser in aid of the Angeli Foundation, a charity that works to empower the girl child in India, at Grosvenor Hotel, London.

The show opened with the gorgeous Urmila Matondkar, who was styled for ‘Rangeela’ by him. She took to the ramp dressed in a black and white navy lehenga woven with chikankari.

The bubbly Parineeti Chopra added to the Bollywood desi charm in the finale with a glittering floor length, red and gold anarkali lehenga and an infectious smile.

“I can think of no better association than the Gala Fundraiser for my show in London after a decade. As celebrities, it is our role and responsibility to lead by example and if I can make a small change by lending my support, then I have achieved something,” said Manish who has taken up an initiative with this show to promote the regional handicrafts and workmanship from the rural parts of India.

Manish Malhotra’s show was not only supported by Bollywood beauties Parineeti and Urmila, but a host of British Asian stars also came out to show their support at the Gala Fundraiser. Meera Syal (star of ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ and ‘The Kumars and No 42’), Shivani Ghai, Laila Rouass, Jimi Harkishin, Sunetra Sarker, Ace Bhatti and Hari Dhillon (daily soap stars), Sonali Shah (BBC Sports presenter), Anita Rani and Nihal (TV and radio presenters), actor Adil Ray better known as ‘Citizen Khan’ and actress-singer Preeya Kalidass.
