MUMBAI: Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has a message for all his young fans. He says, “The key to success is to be determined. You can be a cricketer, actor or whoever. You must be determined to be what and who you want to be.”

Sachin Tendulkar was present at a fund-raising telethon for the NDTV-Coca Cola campaign ‘Support My School’ in Mumbai. And joining him in this noble endeavour to raise funds for education was none other than Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. We also caught sight of actress par excellence Kajol, Ayushmann Khurrana, Anil Kapoor and Rahul Bose at this initiative.

Together, these celebrities raised around Rs 13.6 crore for the revitalisation of 272 schools all over the country, thanks to the Sachin Tendulkar-led telethon, which saw the ‘Master Blaster’ share some of his cricketing secrets with the live audience. Reportedly, the telethon was a 12-hour affair, which was streamed live on Tendulkar’s facebook page and on YouTube. The event was held at Yash Raj Studios in the city.

“Telethon 2013 has once again been an overwhelming experience with higher levels of enthusiasm and support for the ‘Support My School’ campaign than ever before. The campaign is very close to my heart and I am delighted at the response we have received this time from individuals and corporations alike,” said Sachin Tendulkar.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too chipped in, and expressed her joy at being able to participate in the noble cause. “As a mother, I understand the urge to provide your child with the best opportunities available to help them grow and prosper. Every child deserves these opportunities, every girl needs to know that she herself is a beacon of hope and has the power to influence her future.”
