MUMBAI: Trust Bollywood designer Vikram Phadnis to mix things up, and go for something completely different. On the last day of the Lakme Fashion Week, Vikram ended the fashion extravaganza on a high note, with an immaculate collection, a line up of the biggest celebrities and local artisans from Raigad that told the glorious story of India’s great craftsmen and traditions.
Incorporating craftsmen and workers from Raigad (Maharashtra) truly seemed to be a stroke of genius, with the fabulous Bollywood personalities walking side by side with the local village people, in a true blue ‘Celebration of Rural India’. Vikram was seen personally encouraging his rural friends to walk down the ramp, amidst Bollywood and TV stars.
Everyone was naturally dressed head to toe in Vikram Phadnis creations, and the local craftsmen and women wore large smiles in addition to the couture they were given.
Bollywood celebrities like Abhishek Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Anurag Basu, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan with their son Arhaan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ayushmann Khurrana, Chetan Bhagat, Dia Mirza, Dino Morea and Ekta Kapoor were seen walking down the ramp, accompanied by the village folk.
Director Farah Khan, Ileana D’cruz, Sheriff of Mumbai Dr Indu Shahani, Jeetendra, Juhi Chawla, Kiran Rao, Kunal Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Pragya Yadav, Punam S Sinha, Rahul Bose, Raj Kumar Yadav, Ram Kapoor, Sakshi Tanwar, Sanjay and Zarine Khan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Sophie Choudhary. Vaibhavi Merchant and Rohit Bal were also seen gliding down the ramp.
