MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan may be the biggest superstar all over the world, but the man has a special place in children’s hearts as well. Post the success of his super-hero film, ‘Ra.One’, SRK is much in demand and is an icon for the kids.
It is no wonder then that Shah Rukh Khan launched a new indoor theme park in Mumbai, for children.
KidZania, an edutainment brand will soon have its first outlet in R City Mall, Mumbai in April 2013. The newly built mini-city for children will be spread across 75,000 square feet, and will have buildings, paved streets, vehicles and recognizable destinations.
Shah Rukh Khan, who is the co-promoter of KidZania India said, “I am proud to be part of the team bringing KidZania into India, as I know it will make a difference to the children here. As a parent, I realise that children are most receptive when they are having fun, so a platform like KidZania that brings entertainment and education together will add value to their lives. India is a young country and we need to focus on building a strong future – KidZania will in many ways provide that by building awareness amongst our children through an experience that is hands-on, engaging, educational, and most importantly, fun.”
At KidZania, children can involve themselves in various “real-world” activities like arriving at the airport, visiting a city center to exploring the city streets. They can even choose professions such as being a police officer, doctor, journalist or a shopkeeper and earn money which they can then spend or save. The idea is to educate through experience, and encourage strong life skills in children. Of course, from a kid’s perspective it’s all about fun.
Clad in blue jeans and a black blazer, SRK was the centre of attention at the press conference to launch KidZania. He was seen performing his trademark dance steps and even shook a leg with all the children present. SRK has always been a believer in children’s talent, and was not disappointing his legions of kiddie fans this time around too.
