Rani Mukerji, who tied the knot to filmmaker Aditya Chopra, is back on the sets of Pradeep Sarkar’s Mardaani to complete the remaining scenes for the film.
Rani Mukherji, who will be seen playing a policewoman in the film, made her first post-marriage appearance earlier this month when she was spotted at Mumbai Airport minus husband Aditya Chopra.
Mardaani has Rani Mukerji essaying the role of Shivani Shivaji Roy, a cop at the Mumbai Crime Branch, whose life changes when she takes on a dangerous case. This is the first time Rani will be playing such a role.
To prepare for her role in Mardaani, Rani Mukerji apparently met with Mumbai Police Crime Branch chief as part of research.
“Rani Mukerji approached us when she was preparing for her role. She wanted to play it realistically and we have just helped her do that.” informed the ATS Chief Himanshu Roy.
Himanshu Roy even added that Rani Mukerji wanted to know in detail about the challenges faced by cops and the lifestyle we lead. So we put her in touch with two lady officers from the crime branch. She then spent some time with them to get a better idea about their lives.”
Himanshu Roy also revealed that the actress went on to meet the lady police officer whose life has inspired Rani’s character in the film. “I cannot reveal her name but yes, she was an officer at the crime branch,” he stated.
It may be noted here that the cast and crew of the film have signed a non- disclosure clause with the production house. This means that they are not at liberty to share any information about the film with the media at this stage.
Mardaani is a story that revolves around a teenage girl who is kidnapped and smuggled out the city by child traffickers and how Rani’s character embarks on a hunt for the girl.
