They were enemies, once upon a time. Today, however, the equation has changed. Fellow filmmakers Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap today are fast friends, and this is evident from their overt displays of affection on social media sites.
The media-savvy Johar took to Twitter to express his heartfelt gratitude towards Anurag Kashyap. Kashyap is currently directing Karan Johar in Bombay Velvet, in which the latter plays a role with shades of grey.
Karan tweeted his thanks to Kashyap for casting him in the role, because it ended up fulfilling his late father, Yash Johar’s prophecy. Reportedly, Karan’s father had always envisioned Karan as an actor, but Karan went down the directorial route.
Karan Johar tweeted: “My father thought I should be an actor. I didn’t. Thank you Anurag Kashyap for fulfilling my dad’s wish. Just wrapped ‘Bombay Velvet’.”
Though he’s made appearances in films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Luck By Chance and other films over the years, this will be Karan Johar’s first out-and-out full-fledged role. Bombay Velvet stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, and will release later this year.
