MUMBAI: The buzz around Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Paani’ has centered around its casting for many years now. Putting to rest all curiosity and speculation, we have news of the final lead pair in the ambitious film. And no, it doesn’t include ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart….
While it’s common knowledge that Hrithik Roshan has been finalized as the male lead for ‘Paani’, there has been tremendous speculation for who will be cast opposite him. Since 2010 Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart was considered to play the female lead. In 2011, she denied even being approached for the project, however in 2012, Stewart expressed her admiration for Roshan and expressed eagerness to be cast opposite him.
And now it is finally revealed. A reliable source has confirmed to us that Shekhar Kapur will be casting the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ heroine Anushka Sharma opposite Hrithik Roshan!
Said an insider, in no uncertain terms: “Yes, Anushka Sharma has been finalised for Shekhar Kapur’s ‘Paani’. Hrithik Roshan is the leading man in the film.”
‘Paani’ is Shekhar Kapur’s dream project, which revolves around a future world where water wars have broken out, and water is owned by international corporations who use thirst as a weapon of control. The poster bears the ominous message: “2040 AD, when the well runs dry. We will realize the worth of ‘Paani’.”
Shekhar had announced his return to Bollywood back in 2003, where he announced ‘Paani’ as a $25 million project, which he aimed to make in his home country. Aditya Chopra’s Yash raj Films will be producing ‘Paani’ under their YRF banner.
