Bollywood actor Salman Khan has a peace of side till July 20 on his ongoing 2002 hit and run case. On Monday, the Bombay High Court adjourned the hearing on Salman Khan‘s appeal till July 20.
With Bajrangi Bhaijaan releasing on July 17, Salman Khan’s hearing is to be held on July 20. Earlier, the court deferred the July 1 hearing till July 13 but again adjourned it further. Dabangg Khan made an appeal to the high court, reasoning that his lawyer needs sometime to check documents and the hearing now is adjourned to July 20

Although the ‘paper book’ against his conviction compiling all the evidences and documents was ready and copies had been sent to both the sides by the court. The language used in high court is English and so all the documents, which were in other languages, are required to be translated in English. Salman’s counsel Amit Desai urged for three weeks’ adjournment to check whether the documents were in order. The actor’s lawyer said he would need to check whether translation of any document in vernacular language is required to be done in English.
Salman Khan’s car had met with accident in suburban Bandra on September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four. 13 years after the trial began, Salman Khan’s 2002 hit and run case came to end on May 6 where session court found him guilty and sentenced him for five years jail, convicted under all charges including under Section 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (rash and negligent driving); 279 (rash driving); 337 (causing minor injuries); 338 (causing major injuries) 427 (negligence) in connection with the case.
Sentence was suspended on May 08, and fresh bail was granted in cash of Rs 30,000 in lieu of surety as a temporary measure.
