MUMBAI: Sana Khan, who stars alongside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in his upcoming film ‘Mental’ has finally got anticipatory bail. She was accused of plotting the abduction of a 15 year old girl who had spurned the marriage requests of her cousin Naved. With the bail, Sana Khan can now resume shooting for ‘Mental’.
Sohail Khan, the director of ‘Mental’, had said that Sana wasn’t needed for the current schedule of ‘Mental’ and that she was anyway not the lead actress of the film.
Sana Khan, who became famous after appearing in a banned Amul Macho ad and on the sixth season of ‘Bigg Boss’ – where many pegged her to be Salman Khan’s favourite, denied the charges levied against her. She said, “Am I mad to try and abduct somebody? Getting a 15-year-old married could give me life imprisonment. Nobody in my family has had a love marriage till date, forget eloping. I have got such a great opportunity to kick-start my career in Bollywood with a film starring Salman Khan. Am I stupid to throw it all for such a thing?”
Sana Khan does provide her side of the story. Saying that she does not run a marriage bureau, Sana Khan clarified that she “met Naved’s ‘friend’ at Sion. She told me that her mom wanted to meet me. Which is why I went to her Navi Mumbai residence. The next thing I knew, they had filed a police complaint against me!”
The newbie believes that the girl’s family is framing charges against her only to ride on the fame she has received. She said, “What else could be the reason? Why are people so harsh on actors? I have been going through this since my modelling days, but now I don’t care. I just want to stay away from such needless controversies.”
She has instructed her cousin, Naved, to stay away from the 15 year old. “Tomorrow they might accuse us of much graver sins,” Sana Khan said.
There’s a long way for this story to reach its end. For now, Sana Khan will continue shooting for ‘Mental’. Sohail Khan plans to release ‘Mental’, which also stars Tabu and Daisy Shah, in January 2014.
