Sanjay Leela Bhansali And His Jinxed Projects

Sanjay Leela 05[tps_footer]Sanjay Leela Bhansali has two projects that we all want should see the light of the day. But then it seems that the fact is that both the projects are JINXED.

We are taking about Bajiro Mastani and Heera Mandi, both period dramas and both very close to Bhansali’s heart.

Let us give you a complete account of both these projects:

Bajirao Mastani: The director had first planned the project with Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam lead pair – Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but things did not work out after their relationship ended on a bitter note. Names of actors like Shan Rukh and Ajay Devgn have been cropping up from time to time for Bajirao and there was a buzz of Kareena Kapoor to essay the role of Mastani. Even Katrina Kaif was reportedly on stand by for the role of Mastani.

It’s been almost fifteen years now that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has nurtured a dream to make a film on Peshwa Bajirao and his ladylove Mastani. Will this dream ever turn into reality? Only time will tell.

Heera Mandi: this is another project that Sanjay wants to start. Heera Mandi is a red-light district and a bazaar located in Taxali Gate, Lahore (Punjab), Pakistan. The women here offer traditional and classical dances and were originally the center of the city’s tawaif culture in the Mughal era. It’s a love story of one such woman who falls in love with a prince.

Reportedly, Sanjay was searching for the female lead role of the movie and was not finding one. As a result the project did not take off. Finally it was learnt that Rani Mukherji would be playing the role of main heroine of the film.

He was suppose to start the project soon after he wrapped up the shooting of Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, but then the project is yet to take off.

Then there was a buzz that Sanjay was planning to launch Suraj Pancholi with Heera Mandi and was looking for a leading lady but then this news also died before it could even spread.

Now both these stories are worth telling. Will they ever be made? Your guess is as good as ours.

Do stay tuned for updates on this one.[/tps_footer]
