Bollywood veteran actor Om Puri recently got into a controversy after he made an insulting comment on the Indian Martyrs during a TV debate. Om Puri ended up insulting Indian martyrs while defending Pakistani artists over the ongoing debate to ban them from working in India. Talking about the same, he aggressively said, “We haven’t forced them to join army.” He further said, “Prepare 15-20 people as suicide bomber and send them to Pakistan.”
Also, a police complaint was filed against actor Om Puri in Andheri over his insulting remark on the Indian soldiers. After facing the anger of fans and friends from the industry, Om Puri has come up with a shocking and huge decision. Following the recent controversy, Om Puri said that he might quit acting. For now, he has received an offer from Canada, which will be three-month assignment starting from January 2017.
Om Puri did apologize for his comments during an interview and also said that boycotting would not make difference to him. He even compared himself with Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan saying, “Let them boycott my films. Earlier they’ve spoken of boycotting Shah Rukh and Salman Khan’s films. But those wanting to stop films featuring me should know that’s not me on screen, that’s a character. A better option of showing their anger towards me would be to spit on and tear my posters. But when you try to harm films you harm a lot of other people who haven’t offended you in any way.”
