Actor Sohum Shah’s recent film ‘Tumbbad’ which went on to become one of the most successful films of 2018 is a result of 18 years of blood, sweat and tears.
Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad has won the hearts of the audience and also piqued the interests of the audience with the weaving mystery of the gripping story.
But many few know that Tumbbad is a result of 18 years of hard work.
The first draft of the film was written way back in 1997 and it was modified multiple times. In total over 60-70 drafts of the script were written over a span of 18 years.
The makers took to their official social media handle and tweeted,”The writing of the film started with a simple rule – Everything would be logical with minimal to no jump scares. The process of writing continued even through the shooting and editing, as at times, the scenes had to be rewritten just to suit the visuals or the constantly evolving language of the film. With some 60-70 drafts written over a span of 18 years, there’s a story behind almost every dialogue, every scene and even the climax which was quite different from what eventually made it to the film!

The film created history by being the first Indian film to open the Venice International Film Critic’s Week and has garnered rave reviews from critics.
