MUMBAI: After casting Sonam Kapoor as the de-glam Biro in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is set to launch her brother Harshvardhan Kapoor in a period drama titled ‘Mirza Sahiba’.
Anil Kapoor’s US returned son, Harshvardhan had earlier mentioned that he plans to focus on direction until he decides to face the camera. (Read Story) He had earlier rejected Vikramaditya Motwane’s ‘Lootera’.
But looks like in the current speed of things, Harshvardhan Kapoor will make his debut soon. The young aspiring actor is currently also assisting Anurag Kashyap in his ambitious venture ‘Bombay Velvet’.
Rakesysh Omprakash though had mentioned earlier that his next will not be ‘Mirza Sahiba’ but ‘Raja Aur Krishna Ki Bansuri’, a mythological thriller about Krishna’s flute. (Read Story) But looks like the script has been completed and we will see some action soon.
On probing why a new face for an intense period drama like ‘Mirza Sahiba’ and why Harshvardhan was cast, Mehra said, “We needed a fresh face and I liked Harsh, as he has the fierce intensity of a lover in him, combined with an innocent softness in his eyes.”
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra also adds that ‘Mirza Sahiba’ is pretty close to his heart and the idea was there even before ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ went on floors.
In the current state of things, and lady luck on Rakeysh’s side, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to kick-start either of the two films. Whether ‘Raja Aur Krishna Ki Bansuri’ or ‘Mirza Sahiba’. It will be interesting to see who plays Harshvardhan’s love interest? Any choices for the leading lady?
