[imagebrowser id=253] MUMBAI: Anushka Sharma is one youngster in Bollywood who’s got her priorities sorted. It is not surprising, since the young 24-year old lass comes from a very strict army background. We caught up with the beautiful Bangalore girl on her latest promotional rounds for ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’.
Vishal Bhardwaj’s yet-to-be-released ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ has been in the limelight for its quirky title, the presence of a pink buffalo in the promos and of course, the fresh new pairing of Anushka Sharma with Imran Khan: both talented yet underrated actors of their generation.
The film looks very interesting, and different; and we are very curious to see what Vishal has created this time around, after his successful and critically acclaimed ‘Maqbool’, ‘Omkara’ and ‘Kaminey’.
We spotted the two protagonists of ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’ at Enigma in Juhu, Mumbai. The duo spoke about the diverse things that make this film tick, and what audiences can expect from this cinematic offering. Dressed in a pink blouse and printed leggings, Anushka was the centre of attention at this promotional event.
Anushka spoke at length about why she is so proud to come from an army background, and the level of sacrifice it took on the part of her family while her father was away at war. She also revealed how being from an army background instill discipline in her.
“The army has had a huge role to play in shaping me as a person and contributing to where I have reached in life. When I meet someone from an army background, there is an instant connection. My father was given a number of field postings, during which my mother stayed with us away from my father, so we could get a good education.”
